What is an engagement session?
An engagement session is a photo shoot lasting 1-2 hours done before the wedding and is usually scheduled within a month of the day you reserve your wedding date. Photos from the shoot are used for invitations and save-the-date cards, but can also be printed to display at your reception or used to create your own unique guest book featuring your favorite shots. If you don’t normally like being photographed, an engagement session is the best way to get used to being in front of the camera and see what it’s like to hang out with your photographer.
What should we wear?
Wear something that makes you feel confident and comfortable. Combine bold colors, casual accessories, or even go full-formal to add a touch of class. Bring two outfits to mix things up and add variety to the photos. Pro Tip – Wear clothing that coordinates instead of matching and wear neutral footwear such as boots, heels, and classic sneakers like Vans or Chuck Taylors; stick to clothing that doesn’t feature logos or writing.
What’s the “feel” of your sessions?
Gone are the days of stiff, posed, and lifeless engagement photos. My sessions are fun and candid. They feel more like hanging out with some friends instead of picture day at school. Have a glass of wine, kick back, and relax! We’ll plan the session around activities you love and make sure to bring out your personalities in the best way possible. Lets choose a location that’s near and dear to your heart. Where you had your first date together or enjoying an activity you love to do with each other are excellent options. We can also incorporate your personalities by staying close to a spot that rings true to your aesthetic. Do you enjoy the city, or are you more into nature? Industrial, classy, rustic? Every location creates a mood that represents you and your partner.
